18 Weeks And Leaking Colostrum Already? Posted: 07-16-07 09:03am
I'm 18 weeks and pregnant with my first.
I have noticed my breasts are leaking if I
squeeze the nipples. I didn't think it
would happen this soon? It's nothing that
is a problem for me yet, but I noticed if
I squeeze my nipples, they leak a few
drops of a clearish, yellow fluid. Is this
colostrum already?

yes i am pretty sure its normal.
But why are you squeezing your nipples?

Yeah its normal, I started at 19 weeks
with my first son. The midwife told me it
will probably mean you will have a good
amount of milk when it comes to
breastfeeding.
I was always told not to squeeze or pull
my nipples about to much tho!

I started leaking colostrum quite early
during pregnancy, it's perfectly normal
some people atart leaking early and some
don't notice anything until they start to
feed their baby

can you bring on early labour with too
much nipple stimulation? i know they tell
women to do that around their due date to
help things along, but i can't remember if
it's a bad thing when you are earlier on
in your pregnancy. seems to me i read
something about that. it would be good to
know if you are squeezing them just in
case that's not a good thing to be doing.

still too tender to be giving them a good
old squeeze!!!

It takes several hours to actually start
labor with nipple stimulation. In fact, my
sister's midwife said to use a pump
because it's difficult to do that. Maybe
if you are high risk it could be bad.

i have leaked on and off since about 20
weeks. all the sudden for a few days i
will leak then it will stop for a couple
weeks. when i was in the hospital for
contractions from a UTI they said NO
nipple stimulation or sex until i got to
my Dr a few days later so they could
verify everything was ok. it must do
something!
