ok..i've been using yasmin for a little over a year now..it's worked ok for me. i used to have horrible periods that lasted 7 days..now they're down to five..and a little nicer Smile but i have band camp coming up at the end of this month..and i've just realized that its going to land on the week im supposed to have my period!! theres no way i can have that happen!! we're out on the field ALL day with hardly any time for bathroom breaks..while this is ok for some girls..my period is a little heavier than most and lasts longer. so my question is ..with out switching to some alternate form of birth control ..can i skip my period..or delay it a week? any advice would be much appreciated!

Yes, you can try to skip your period by going to a new pack, but it may not 100% work.

The first 'attempt' at skipping can have lots of spotting or bleeding that lasts for weeks into the next package of pills, so you need to be ready for that possibility just in case.

There is no need to switch your pill...I only get mine every three months without the depo or seasonale. What my doctor did was she prescribes me enough for 3 months at a time. I skip the placebo week for two months and just go straight to the next packett. So you can do it that way but the previous poster was right it might not 100% work. The other thing you can do is get off of it a week early and then start back up the next week but that does not mean you will get your period. I would talk to the doctor about this, they are really understanding most of the time and help you with this, but this is what I have learned from my doctor.

Yeah, just skip the inactive pills and take the next pack of active pills. But it probably won't work 100% right away.

I remember the days of band camp... you can always try using a tampon and a pad at the same time to ensure protection, and load up on midol. Best of luck.

Well, there is a chance there won't be spotting after. There is a chance it might even work on the first try. (But probably not)

It works for everyone differently, and you don't really know what's going to happen until you try it. But be prepared for weird bleeding stuff.

I was able to skip mine the first month on yasmin. I never had any spotting or anything. My doctor allowed me to skip for two to three packs it was just up to me.
