I feel like such a failure, i'm still finding it really hard to bond with .Mika, sometimes i love ehr to bits and would do anything for her and then sometimes i struggle so hard to try and make myself love her but i just can't. I hate the way i feel about her, i know that i should love her and want to do anything for her but i don't, sometimes i find myself wondering what would happen if i'd never had her or if something happened to her. My midwife is coming round to see me on tuesday to asess me for post natal depression and that terrifies me because i know i have it

Dani, it shows a lot of bravery that you're strong enough to admit this. So many new mothers are ashamed and try to hide their feelings and try to pretend to be ecstatic about everything, when in fact they're overwhelmed.

I hope your midwife is able to help you. Try to be open and honest with her. The best thing you can do for Mika right now is to try to help her mother.

And I'm not sure if this will be a comfort or not, but many mothers aren't able to bond with their babies simply because they don't feel anything from them. In a few weeks, when Mika starts to really look at you, you might start to really feel that connection.

You can pm me anytime you feel discouraged. I'm always here, sweetie.
