Q: Still Protected On Pill?

omg i wrote something about brith control and here i go again. ok i've been taking the birthcontrol for exactly one week now (started on last sunday) but 3 days ago when i took it, i threw up about 4-5 hours later. am i still safe on the pill?

AND just today i forgot my pills at home and had to take it and hour and a half later! will that interfere with my sex with boyfriend? will i still be protected or not? ahhh please help!

You should be on the pill for at least a week before beginning to have unprotected sex. Since you have been inconsistent with it I would advise you to use condoms and possibly look into other means of birth control that will not be easy for you to forget. You can also set an alarm on your cell phone to remind you to take the pill and always keep them with you.

Throwing up 4-5 hours later is not a problem, it is 2 hours that would be a problem.

You only missed the pill by 1.5 hours, you are still protected.

You need to take the pill for 7 full days in order to be protected, technically an hour late is not conisdered a 'missed pill' yet.

thanks guy:) i know that i'm not fully prtotected yet, i just wanted to know if that would interfere with it later in the month and we are still using condoms:) thanks again!

An hour and a half late one time is not really a big deal. Just don't make a habit of it.

Although it is a good idea when you're on the pill to keep condoms around for situations where you feel you may not be protected. Generally, if you think something weird may be up, wear condoms for a week. Then you'll know you're protected. Wink
