Hi there,
I was cutting up some hot red chillis recently, (which i have done for many years) and then proceeded to wash up the dishes in hot water.
Two hours later, I found that all my fingers on both hands started to get extremely hot and tingling building up to intense pain, which was only relieved by ice application . This scenario continued for close to 8 hours the only relief being after a period of time , due to rubbing my hands in vegetable (olive) oil but relief was very short term. (This was recommended by the Poisons Help line)
After 8 hrs the burning sensation suddenly and quickly resolved . 12 hours after that, there was still some residual tingling in my right hand..
Has anyone heard of any specific effective treatment for this burning pain which lasted so long after contact with chillis?

I've heard of prevention - buy a box of disposable latex gloves (the ones that look like doctor's gloves) and put them on before cutting any kind of pepper or handling hot spices with your hands (e.g. when rubbing spice onto chicken). This keeps the oils from the peppers from coming into contact with your hands.

treat chilli burns on skin
pour any kind of vinegar on , it makes it go away immediately. Then rinse off the vinegar.
