Q: brown spot under my lower lip

Ive had this brown spot under my lower lip about 3 weeks ago. It doesn't itch or burn, nothing at all, in fact my friend had to tell me I had it. I thought it was just dry skin so I used lotion and vaseline, but it didn't do anything. Recently in the past 1.5 weeks, it has turned red in the area under my lower lip and has started to travel to the corners of my mouth, these areas are brown. The area has now becoming very visible. There is now extremely dry skin and I've went to the physician and he told me it was a rash of some sort caused by either a bacterial infection, even though I told him it doesn't itch or burn. At first he gave me Loprox, it didnt do anything. Now he has given me Metrogel 1%. Can somebody tell me what Im supposed to do cause Im getting really stressed and depressed that no matter what I do, I can't kill this thing. Im really worried now cause its spreading to the right corner of my upper lip. Ive tried to look up every skin condition known, but nothing comes close to what I have. Im sorry for the long read but Im just worried that these brown/red spots wont go again and just spread.

melasma
it may be melasma. i have spots that are light-sensitive. if i go out in the sun, it's like my skin tans in a really focused way. i went to the dermatologist and they said it may be melasma. anyway, i use a cream that you can buy at wallgreens called Ambi skin care Fade Cream 'fades dark spots for even, natural skin tone'. This has sunscreen but i use even more. it could be a hormonal reacion as well. i've recently read that spreading pure aloe vera from the leaf of an aloe plant may help with the discoloration. hope this helps!

dark spots around mouth
Thank you melasmasufferer,

I'll try the aloe, I have been trying Ambi fade cream for a few months now. Some days it looks like it working, but then a few days later it seems like it didn't change a thing.

Trying to stay away from the sun, but summer in texas are very hot and it only takes about half hour or less before I get a good tan. I am hispanic so I tanned well and don't need much before I get dark. But during the winter I'm quite lite and the spots show up really nice lately.
I thought I lack zinc or B12 or B6 so I am trying to take some pills. But I don't know if its hormonal or not. I really believe I am lacking somethings. So I trying everything.Trying to eat better too.
Hope you all find something and share it will us. Thank you for your attendtion and help.

Metrogel 1% Gel worked for me
I had a touch of rosacea I also had a brown spot a half inch in diameter over and touching the edge of my top lip it look awful. I went to the dr for the rosacea he gave me a prescription for metrogel 1 % generic name metronidazole.

I used it daily for weeks and it controlled beautifully the rosacea and suddenly after two months of applying this gel every morning I realized the brown spot was not there I looked closer but yes it was gone. Now mind you i did not use the gel for the brown spot but it took it away so I began putting it in other age spots and lesions it took they all away in time this metrogel is the help for more than just rosacea.

One does need a prescription for purchase.

I have a similar dry spot in the corner of my mouth, only slightly pink, not brown. I noticed it has been there for about a week, no amount of moisturizer or vaseline will make it go away. i started researching online and read it can be caused by a fungus, like when you have a yeast infection. I bought lotromin AF from the drug store and have been applying it nightly starting kast night, i'll let you know if it works. At this point, i'll try anything!
