Q: Skin cancer ? armpit rash - reddish-brown color , itches, bu
asked by: DoctorQuestion on July 13th, 2007
I have had an armpit rash for about two months now. It's a reddish-brown color, it will itch, then burn, then swell up and drain. There is a hard, painful lump in the middle, and it started out as a pea size. Whenever it appears, it gets larger, it is now about the size of a dime. It comes and goes, but the rash is always there. I have tried hydrocortizone cream, and antibiotic creams. Nothing is working. What is this, and is this a serious issue like cancer? Please email me back at amylovesmaleea@hotmail.com Thank you

Skin cancer does not manifest with a rash. Skin lesions are impossible to diagnose precisely without seeing them. Hydro cortisone is helpful for treating allergic lesions while antibiotics are used to treat bacterial infections. But hydro cortisone will not seem to help in the case of a yeast infection. In cases of yeast infection, this medication can even worsen the condition. You can go to your GP for a diagnosis and then a dermatologist if necessary.
