I suggest getting off the medications. Although in some cases it does good, it can really mess you up. When I was younger my doctor illegally put me on zoloft and it cost me my memory and nearly my life. I think you need a clear mind to deal with your problems, take some time off the medication and if things do not seem to get better, try a different type of antidepressent.

This can be a serious side effect of anti depressants with people in your age group. Notice how at the end of commercials advertising anti depressants they run a disclaimer saying "the use of antidepressants in children and adolescents can increase thoughts of suicide...... " Talk to your doctor and get yourself switched off this med. Some meds are well tolerated by adolescents and others are not so well tolerated. there are many different meds out there and you should be able to find one that works for you

I Agree
You call the physican that put you one that med and tell him of your suicidel thoughts. The above post is correct and I too agree. Meds like Prosac and some others are well known in the medical field to induce those thoughts in young and teen years. Nothing new. You need to take care of that NOW!
Now I really am surprised at the Zoloft. That is not a narcatic drug and is usually tolerated well by must as Buspar is also. With me myself having such an addictive past. I ask my doc to put me on a non-narc for that reason. But then again, even Xanex is addicting and can not be stopped cold turkey. Already went through two withdrawls. Once stopping due to funds and the other due to stupidity. Even though I also use to work the field, I now question every med I am given because I have so many to take now, I have "side effect" phobia. Which to me is a good thing, but can also can back a bite you if the drug is worth it and well help.
I say, see your doc ASAP or at least call.

PsychNurse is right, increased thoughts of suicide may occur. When I started my medication (Effexor), I was told that because of the high increase of whatever chemcial it was that I wasn't producing enough of, would be what led to increased suicidal thoughts. I was told it might take a while for my body to accustom itself to the medication. This may be your case.
On the other hand, if you have been taking this same medication for an extended period of time, maybe it's not right for you. You should be closely supervised when starting a new medication. Not only by your parents but your doctor especially.
Tell them what you are feeling. The doctor needs to know this so they can assess how your body is reacting to the medication.
On a side note: it has been scientifically proven that if a family member is using an anti depressant which works well for them, it could also work for you.
Chin up, girl. I'm with you!
