Hi there. Last month I was tested for Celiac disease and the tests came back negative. I still have all the symptoms and my grandfather had Celiac disease. That's why I'm very suspicious about the results. Are there some new tests, different from the standard ones that I can take? I made complete blood count, Stool fat test, Vitamin D, E, and B12 examination and some other test to evaluate inflammation ...
Thanks.

Hello, and welcome. The gold standard diagnostic technique is a small bowel biopsy done through endoscopic evaluation. This is an invasive test that many physicians do not like to perform in absence of positive lab tests. Celiac disease can be very difficult to get a difinitive diagnosis, so I am sorry you are having trouble with this right now. Please be persisitent with your doctor. Have you been on a Gluten challenge? Have you tried being gluten free? If you were not eating much gluten at the time of your tests, you could come back with false negatives. You could suggest to your physician to try the testing after a 6 week gluten challenge, but most people with cceliac disease cannot tolerate the gluten challenge. The other option is to try 8 weeks of a strict gluten free diet. If that makes you feel better, then you can remain on the gluten free diet. Please do not hesitate to ask any further questions you may have. i am here to help.

Hello, I did a report on celiac disease to help me learn about it and I found out that even though someone in your family has it doesn't mean you will get it, sometimes the people in your family are just carriers of the gene (if you have been tested your probably just a carrier as well). I have celiac disease and my dad has the same symptoms, but he just has irritable bowel. I would suggest getting tested for some other things like Chrones, or Irritable Bowel, I don't want to freak you out but I would also get checked for colon cancer. But I agree with the person above me to try the gluten free diet and see how you feel.
