Peptic ulcer of the stomach or duodenum ? Posted: 07-12-07 02:56am
About a year ago I developed a pain and
discomfort in lower left side, a few
months ago my doctor sent me in for a CAT
scan and nothing was found, said
everything came back normal. During a
routine chiropractor visit he said that I
had a condition known as Intercostal
Neuralgia, a pinched nerve basically. The
pain and discomfort still exists, it comes
and goes. If I lay on it sometimes at
night, it hurts in one certain spot.
Within the last 3 weeks now I've developed
pain and discomfort in my stomach. It
comes and goes, seems to be worse at night
and it doesn't stay confined to one spot.
Sometimes I can feel it in my chest,
sometimes lower stomach/abdomen and
sometimes around my nasal. I've tried
Gas-X, Equate Acid Controller and Rollaids
but nothing really seems to be helping..
to me it sounds like maybe an ulcer, but
not sure.
I don't feel any swelling or tenderness.
My stool is normal, it's not dark and
doesn't contain blood. Any ideas?

Peptic ulcer of the stomach or duodenum
can be proven only with a diagnostic
procedure called a "gastroscopy". CT-scans
won’t help. Serological examination for
Helicobacter pillory can be also requested
and is helpful for diagnosis. Neuralgia
can be due to spondilotic changes of the
spine. To confirm spondilosis you need
X-ray image of the spine. You can contact
your GP again and perhaps set an
appointment to perform these analyses.
