It isn't epilepsy, but i'm not sure where to post this message. One of my relatives has in the past 48 hours developed something that I can best describe as tourette's. He's 29 years old. Overall healthy. He developed pnemonia a couple of days ago, took an antibiotic, and within two days started having involuntary muscle movements and speech problems. Some of the movements and involuntary activities include sticking his tongou out, biting down on his teeth repetatively, shaking his head (sometimes violently), trouble getting words out. I understand that some antibiotics may cause this, but i'm just not sure what's going on.
He's an outstanding piano player, and when he tried to play the piano, his hands after a couple of seconds of playing just went out of control. He describes it like he's sending a signal to do something, and the signal just wont stop until it's run its course.
The most bizarre thing is that some of the movements will go at the same beat as the music we are listening to. For example, we were driving in the car and he started moving his head from side to side with no apparant rythym. Then, the radio came on and it was like he was moving to the music. I've never heard or seen anything like this. It seems to get worse when he has anxiety.
He's going to some doctors in the near future, but if anyone has heard of anything like this, it would be of great help. I'm at a loss.
