Wrong Kind of Birth Control?
Posted: 07-11-07 19:24pm

I went for my first appointment for birth control and my doctor said he was prescribing Orthro-Nova (may be mispelled). He abbreviated it sow hen the pharmacist saw it, she said "It may be Orthro-Nova but I have to call to check."Its so hard to get through to the doctor so I had to personally go and ask them to call. A nurse, one I hadn't seen before, told them to give me Nortrel. They are both kinds of birth control but I'm afriad being on the wrong one will give me problems. Is there a significant difference between the two kinds?

Those are not the same birth controls, and really the pharmacist should be the one calling the doctor's office to confirm the prescription. The pharmacist shouldn't be able to just ask you the name of it. I would explain to the pharmacist that you would rather have them call the doctor's office for you.
