I am 36 years old and due to start my period in the next 2-4 days. I have had unprotected sex, or used the pull out method, 5-6 times this month on all different dates. I have all the symptoms of my period starting anytime like, fatigue (more than usual), on and off cramps, slight nausea (that might be anxiety about this, some hot and/or cold flashes, slight on and off headaches and slight on and off dizziness, heart seems to beat a little faster and back pain. The strange thing is a few days before my period my breasts get sore, but they are not this time. I know everyone has different pregnancy symptoms though. I got a negative test result for the home test this morning, but could it still be too early? Last period was on 5/31, due next anytime, but around the 26th or 27th probably. I doubt my partner would be happy, but I would be in seventh heaven.

Hi,

I would wait to see if my period arrives and wouldn't make anything much out of the breasts not being sore. It sounds like deep down in your heart you really want a baby. I hope it works out for you. Goodluck!

Different brands of tests can work earlier than others, though most say that they aren't effective until you're actually late. First response brand is supposed to work a few days before you miss, but it's not perfectly accurate either. On the other hand, a lot of the pregnancy symptoms are very similar to what happens when you get your period. But that's all generalizations since no one is the same. I personally would test again after my period was supposed to be 1 or 2 days late, and if it was still neg go to the doc for the blood test. I've been told it's more sensitive than the home tests so it could pick up on smaller amounts of the hormone.
