well 2 days ago i was sleeping and i woke up to my pinky toe nail really hurting so i looked at it and i noticed taht it was half off.

yesterday it was about 3 quarters off and now it is the same.

it hurts really badly and it is very annoying. i have put bandaids on it but they dont really work:(

should i go 2 the doctor? what should i do at home? what could have happened to it?

Is it red, or irritated? Soaking your foot in epson salt is really good for ingrown nails. But.........I don't know about your condition. I know gout is another thing that affects the toes (too tender to even touch), but I don't know about the nails. Sorry, I guess I have not been much help.

Is the nail still attached to your toe at all? If it's just hanging on, I would recommend clipping the part that has fallen off of the skin so it is less likely to get caught on a sock and pull the rest of it off or hurt you worse. Make sure to use a cream on it to prevent infection.

Ugh I get this problem more often than not and so do my kids. You just have to clip off the part that is hanging off and try not to cut it too close. It will feel better in a few days. Putting some anti-biotic ointment on it will make it heal faster and feel better.
