Hi, I have a two year old little boy that was born with terrible reflux that landed him in the hospital twice shortly after he was born because, he couldn't keep anything down and kept losing weight. They changed his formula and finally placed him on a last resort type but, we also had to put rice cereal and they placed him on medication. When he was about a year he was able to succesfully eat and drink without needing the medication or cereal so, apparently he grew out of it. The only concern I had was, he would volmitt and have very bad diaherria with milk so, I tried lactaid...same thing happend. Later, I tried soy milk, same thing so, I eventually gave up. Well, he is now 2 and 1/2 so, I decided to let him try some almond breeze because, I just feel like he needs more vitamins instead of juice all the time but, two days later he has bad diaherria again. What do all of these have that could be causing this? Could it be some type of allergy? He is set to go in for allergy testing on the 30th but, I was just wondering if anyone has ever heard of this?!?!

Welcome to EHEALTHforum!
It sounds like your little boy has an allergy issue.
Food allergies are common, especially in the first 3 years of life.
There is up to a 50% crossover in intolerance between cow milk and soy protein formulas, so, some of those allergic to cow’s milk are also allergic to soy.
Probably, he is allergic to nuts, also.

A food allergy might cause loose stools, excess gas, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting.
Children that aren't breastfeeding, but, formula fed, have increased chances to develop food allergy.
