I really need some help in figuring out am I pregnant or not. I had my period some time in November, I want to say going into the 3rd week of the month. I ended up having unprotected sex on the 29 of November, which happened to be a couple of days after my period ended. I was supposed to get my period in the week of the 11th to the 17th of December, but it hasn't come. So, here I am 40 days later from when i last had sex, and around 45 to maybe 50 days from which I had my last period, and no period having came what so ever. I've taken 3 EPT test within about a couple of days of each other, and they all came out negative. My sister pointed out to me that my nipples and the area aroud my nipples have darkened and I've been getting headaches like everyday for like 2 weeks. And, I've also been feeling sick to my stomach a couple of times to the point where I feel like I have to throw up and I've really been gassy alot. I It seems like my period is never going to come. Could I be pregnant??
Hi, and thanks for your medical question on eHealth forum!
If urine pregnancy test is negative then go for a blood pregnancy test. A blood HCG estimation test would be most reliable. If the test is negative then you are not pregnant. If it is borderline, repeat after a week to see if the levels are rising. Rising levels indicate pregnancy.
If this too is negative then other causes of delayed or missed periods will have to be looked at such as ectopics (can give negative urine/HCG tests), stress whether emotional or physical, hypothyroidism, polycystic disease of the ovary, pituitary tumors secreting prolactin, anemia and poor diet, hormonal imbalance, unexplained or sudden weight gain or weight loss.
You will need to consult a gynecologist for this. Hope this helps. Take care!
