TMJ - To stretch or not to stretch

Hi all

I've read a lot of conflicting advice about this and would like to see what everyone thinks.

Some articles advise that I should stretch the jaw join regularly i.e. opening it wide, popping a few fingers in and holding the stretch for 10 secs (obviously not forcing it but getting a good stretch).

Other articles seem to advise avoiding opening the mouth wide, stifling yawns etc.

So what do you think?
