Hey Everyone,

I'm a 30 year old male and I have a real Jaw clenching/TMJ situation going on right now in my life. I have to say that it sucks. I've been clenching through my mouth guard and had to have it reinforced. The wors part of all this is that i've been getting really anoying tension headaches for awhile now and they are so frustrating, like a dull tense pain in my scalp starting at the back of the neck and wrapping around and of course when I wake up first thing in the morning my jaw muscles kill !

I've been to my doctor and he's prescribed me all kinds of meds like Ativan which is the best drug on earth to fall asleep with but is super-addictive so i asked what else can I take to help aleviate the Stress that leads to TMJ that then leads to more anxiety and then headaches and tension in the neck and face and of course it starts the horrible thoughts about wether or not I have a more severe brain issue(tumor, lesions etc..). The Doctor explained to me that if I had a "Space occupying lesion in my brain" that I would have many symptoms like coordination issues and slurring my speech and numbness of extremeties and Neausia and vomiting, which I do not have.

Nevertheless I am still thinking about it and almost went to a private clinic to do an MRI or PET scan just to put my mind at ease. At this point i no longer feel like i have a brain tumor and I feel like the problem is really the ANXIETY !

Anxiety really sucks, I hate the idea of using medication and I only use it to sleep but latelly it's been hard to shake the symptoms of the TMJ like the Tension Headaches and Dizziness.

Anyway if somebody knows somekind of interesting treatment to help TMJ or just if you have a similar experience I would love to hear it.

I have sever tmd---Ive been through most of the treatments out there. tell me---is this doctor a general practitioner? if so he isnt the one that you should be seeing---you should get into a doctor that specializes in the jaw itself. I have ideas for you--pm me if youd like

ya he is a GP. I haven't really started to look into a specialist yet but I have thought about it.

My regular dentist said that my jaw allignment is normal but i would still like to see someone to look at my jaw.

seems like its not something that is as common once you fall under the "chronic"category.

I would love to hear your suggestions

Thanks !

your gp isnt really qualified to help you in this area----your regular dentist may have said that your jaw alignment is fine but that doesnt always mean that it functions as it should. I know what you mean about the chronic catagory---why dont you send me a pm or email and we can chat?
