im 16 years old,and have had TMJ for over a year. i went to the doctor back in October, and she was so suprised, and said i needed to get help for it asap. and said something about getting my jaw broken and put back in place. would this help? i was born with an irregular bite, which i have read leads to tmj. sadly, i've gotten to the point where im so used to the pain in my jaw, it usually doesnt bother me,till i actually lay down at night and think about it. i cant say TMJ has ruined my life, or anything close to it, but i should would like to know what its lke to open my mouth and not hear a clicking.

thing i experience on a daily basis:
poping on both sides of my jaw, i barley open my mouth, and the right side pops.
ear aches, along with buzzing noises.
back pain, to the point it hurts to walk.
killer head aches, where it feels like my brain is pounding.

i know i shuld go to a doctor, but TMJ is not covered by insurance, most the time, so right now im waiting till my family has the money to do something about it...

any suggestions

That sounds very painful and you would probably feel better if you had the procedure done. I would want to be asleep while they break the jaw. Who told you that insurance doesn't cover TMJ? I have never heard of that before. It sounds medically necessary to me. If I were you I would call the insurance company to confirm that if you're not sure. Good Luck!

thank you! the doctor told me most joint disorders are not covered by insurance, i asked my dad earlier today to call, and he is making the call tomorrow to our insurance company, but last time he did, they said it would not be covered, so hopefully, maybe something has changed!
