Hello,

This is my first time in here.

Today, I visited TMJ specialist for the first time.

He told me that I need to to 'MRI' to know better.

I am really concerned about my symtoms.
I hear grating sound which started about a month ago.
Jaw clicking started about 10 years ago.

Is there anybody that hears grating sound?

He told me that my disk(?) is disppeared to somewhere...
Because of that, when I move the jaw they grins each other and of course it leads the grating sound.

OK, fine...
Then what is the next procedure?
Do I need a surgery or what???

Please give me some advice and information about this...

Thank you so much...

surgery is the last option. what have you done so far? Ive had grating before----the dentist cant really tell wehre teh disc is unless he sees it on the mri or from the position of the condyle on an x ray. Id not say for sure that the disc is gone--not just yet

more than likely they will start you with a splint. it may take a while for you to feel better and for symptoms to diminish so just be patient with it

I didn't do anything yet. Tomorrow, I will get the mri done... That will be the start.

Do you still have grating? Everyday it becomes worse right now. Headach, shoulder pain, backpain and etc...

There must be a cure... like Doc says.

Thank you so much for your reply, Tmddyan.

BTW,
How can I 'search' something in this forum?
I cannot find 'search box' except google one...
Hmmm...
Weird...

pretty much to search the forum you just have to go through and look at topics.

Ok ---i dont have grating any more but you should get into a good chiropractor--and a neuromuscular dentist.---there is something that will help you controll it but as of yet there is no sure fire cure as not one thing works for every one.

I had surgery for it after a lot of treatments that failed. i had grating at the beginning but not so much as we tried different treatments.
