Hi all, I am new to this forum, and glad to see others that there are others like me. I am a 22 year old male and have been living with terrible cramps and spasms in my left cheek and right under the left side of my mouth for as long as I can remember. I feel it most when I talk. Talking is basically the biggest culprit to my discomfort and I have to avoid it as much as possible which is what has effected my life the most. Thanks to benzos I can someone lead a normal life on the weekends and such. The structure of my mouth is a little weird. Under my lips I have a big gum area, its like when i stick my finder in between my lips it can go really deep, which makes my lip area connected at a higher point than it should be. Eating, chewing gum, and such do not bother me a bit. I have been diagnosed by my dentist with Tmj. However I do not have pain in the joint itself. My dentist says 2 years of braces will help, but he is not positive. I am looking into visiting a neuromuscular dentist, but the nearest one is 4 hours away. I was just wondering is it worth driving 4 hours, and is it possible to be diagnosed in a quick manner. Any one else have a similar case.
