Q: TMJ and dental work

So for the last few years i've had brutal tmj, its been getting worse progressively. Right now I need to get a tooth pulled, on the side of the tmj. So far sice i've had tmj i've had 3 teeth pulled or so.

After every tooth extraction i've spent the next 6-10 (somtimes 12 months) basically bed-ridden with pain. I basically am stuck, to my bed, because walking i may collapse from the type of constant facial pain i get after teeth-extractions.

After that it gets better than after-extraction, but the tmj gets massively worse; forever.

So i'll be in bed for 12 months, messed up in pain, and on top of that, my tmj after this point will be worse, forever.

its a brutal procedure that i *can't* get done again this soon.

I'm trying to get a root-canal covered on the basis that i just can't stand getting another tooth pulled, that for me, the root canal is an emergency procedure that I can get some coverage on, because the other option equals over a year of chronic pain.

got some doctors notes, but i'm not very hopeful about this.

How are you taking care of your teeth to prevent further extraction?

root canal if i need them, other than that just a good brushing/flossing/mouth-wash routine.

I've had bad luck with having a cavity bore down to the root of my tooth in like the first two months of getting it, dentist said it was pretty rare. I have an infected root but no cavity on another tooth, maybe an infection from grinding and getting cracks in my teeth.

i just need to go to the dentist more often, maybe once every 3/4 months instead of once every half year.

That sounds like a plan. I know that dentist visits can be expensive, though. Do you have a good dental insurance? Or access to a community clinic?

I found illustrations of the entire procedure of a root canal from start to finish. Also, you can click on this link and search for clinical trials that you might participate in ...
