TMJ and chronic sinus infections

New User (online)Reading all the posts I finally feel like someone else knows what I am going thru. I have suffered with TMJ for about 14 years and have been wearing an appliance (bite splint). At times I have had severe headaches for 2 weeks or more. I have always had a feeling that it could be sinus related. I have chronic sinus infections. Since fall of 2009 a strange new symptom has been added to the terrible headaches. I kept thinking I was getting the flu or some virus because I had terrible radiating aches in my back and neck into the shoulders (along with facial pain). I have been to a dentist, chiropractor, neurologist, and ENT. My energy level is no good, I have gained 20 lbs, and I basically feel like I have a terrible hang over every single day. Sometimes I wish I could get these specialists in a room together and figure this out once and for all, but that's only on TV.

Do these symptoms together sound familiar to anyone else?

From what I understand there are many possible reasons for pains/problems in these regions. Maybe this doesn't apply, but from my experience you may want to have a look at Eagle's Syndrome. Among other things, this can cause headaches, facial pains, pain in the neck and also sinus problems. It is often mistaken for TMJ or other things and is hard to diagnose, but it may be worth reading about. Some information on possible reasons:

I hope this may help you. Take care.

TMJ & Sinus = candida
You might have candida if you feel like you have a hangover and also get sinus infections. It sounds like an overload of toxins in your system. Get it checked out by a naturopath. I also have chronic sinus infections with TMJ and toothache and facial pain, and I am being treated for candida & a virus with naturopathic medicine. Good luck.

I know exactly how you feel. I have TMJ, chronic sinusitis, this uncomfortable tingling in my shoulder and back and am constantly tired. I''m sometimes left thinking that they are all connected...

TMJ/sinus/facial/neck problems
Go and see a craniosacral therapist. If you have TMJ/face pain/sinus issues, there is something out of line in your structure and you need to regain balance in your body. I have been seeing one for just a few sessions and my jaw/neck/back etc etc is much better. Make sure you find someone who you trust and who has an understanding of holistic/emotional health.
