Q: Tired of being FAT!

I am a 19 year old female and ever since I was 10 years old I have been overweight. I am not morbidly obese or anything but I am definitly overweight. I am so grossed out by my own body and have never worn a bikini in my life! whenever my friends and I would go to the beach in the summer I would usually cover up with a baggy t shirt while all my fit friends would prance around on the beach. I am so unhappy with my body and its causing me to isolate myself from guys! I think my main problem is that I am so in love with food and I am pretty sure I am an emotional eater and eat when I am bored. I love all kinds of foods but mainly carbs like pasta and breads etc. I cant keep myself motivated to make myself eat healthy and exercise often. I need help and I am afraid that I will never be happy with my body and I will be alone and single for the rest of my life. Is there anyone out there who has the same problem as me or has lost alot of weight? I need some opinions PLEASE!
Thanks alot for reading voices

Hi slowcheetah,

I hear you. Weight loss can be a lonely and frustrating struggle, especially if you're not quote sure of how to put down or leave the foods that can bring you so much pleasure. One tactic is to balance your caloric intake with exercise. A few suggestions follow. Is there anyone who you can pair up with to lose weight together?

* Aerobic physical activity will assist in increasing muscle tissue which will burn more calories. You should plan on 20-minute sessions at least 3 times per week.
* Gradual changes in eating habits will help encourage a permanent lifestyle change.
* A slow weight loss of 1 or 2 pounds a week, until the desirable body weight is reached, is best.

I agree with the above you should start with small diet changes to ease yourself into it. I had never dieted or exercised in my life until 3 months ago and i thought i wouldn't be strong enough to get in good shape. It's a gradual process and after a couple of weeks I grew to love working out and after a couple more weeks I grew to love eating right. Try to quit the things that are doing you the least good like soda, and candy then work on limiting the amount of white bread or pasta you consume, also google basal metabolic rate and figure out what yours is, then try to eat fewer calories than you burn. I know how you feel but don't lose hope you can do it!

You can motivate yourself by seeing your future self in a bikini prancing along the beach with your self:) Try to cut back the regular portions of your food slowly. That's what my friend did when she noticed that she has become overweight. She said self discipline is the key. She's been keeping off unwanted weight since then. and oh, don't forget to do exercises.

First you have to fix your self esteem issues. I have un-ordinary solutions, but it might work. Start dating, find a guy who cares for you and who you will feel comfortable with, then it's going to be much easier to archive your goal. Love can do miracles to people =)

Good luck

I agree but you know what--I think that genetics play a big part in the weight issue as well..I fight weight gain and loss..My diet is unfortuantely more soft and liquids due to Sjorgens and my weight can flucutate badly..For me I eat what I can get down to stop nausea and hunger..So much gets stuck that it comes back up..It sounds gross but the food really has no time to hit the stomach juices..The weight I believe comes from myhaving to take in what I can several times a day..Sometimes it could be a teaspoon of jello to 1/2 a potato..It has to be soft..
Stress eating was a big factor prior to my learning what was worng with me..Since then the Sjorgens has gotten out of control..

Wow this it EXACTLY what I'm going through, word for word. No joke. It's so hard, and I cant find the willpower to diet or workout.

first of all, coming at yourself with a loathing attitude is going to work against you. Your body is not your enemy, it is doing the best it can for you and always will. You need to appreciate that and love your body which will do its best to protect you and carry you through this life. It stores the fat because that is all it can do under the circumstances. So change the circumstances. Being more compassionate towards your body/yourself will drive you closer to your goal than hating it/yourself will.
