Someone Please Help!. I have had this for about 2 and a half years now. I am dark skinned and i have darker patches of skin all over my body. They are found on my arms, chest, stomach, upper back, neck, and my face. i have seen 2 dermatologists and they both confirmed that what i have is tinea versicolor. the first dermatologist prescribed a shampoo called selenium sulfide 2.25% shampoo and topical creams. i used these for about 5 months but i didn't see any results. I returned to my dermatologist and he then prescribed me antifungal pills. I took one pill daily for 2 weeks and still i saw no results. i went to the second dermatologist and he prescribed me Ketoconazole shampoo. Again I tried this and I saw no results. Now i am loosing hope and i don't know what to do. Does anyone Know a more effective way to cure this?

Some Background Information about me.

I do do swim so I am exposed to the sun for about 2 hours a day.
Sometimes the pool i swim in has warm temperatures.
I shower every day in the morning in warm water.

I had this for 10+ years and tried everything the doctor threw at me. FINALLY I found the answer. Keep the skin DRY during treatment!! I used all the medication, and my skin would get dry and itchy, so I would always use lotions and creams....this FEEDS the fungus! Nothing ever worked because I did this or used creams that the doctor recommended. I finally used "saprox" mud(amazon.com) and would apply for an hour or so and then wash off. This was working well, and then I used ketocanazole SHAMPOO to finish it off. I stopped using the mud and would apply the shampoo for around 20-40minutes, let it dry and then shower after. I would make sure to dry off immediately and keep any moisture from going back to the fungus. 3 weeks and my skin is COMPLETELY CLEAR! It had been over 10 years, so I couldn't believe I had finally killed this off. No reoccurence, and I occasionally will use the shampoo to make sure nothing is starting up again. Hope this helps someone!
