Q: timing of pill taking ?

I take ortho tri cyclen lo and have been on it successfully for almost a year.
Recently, my stepsister, on the same medication, took her pill a few hours after her normal time (ortho lo is supposed to be taken at the same time each day) and got pregnant.
I have only missed a few pills in a year and am careful to use a condom when I do.

How big of a time window (minutes, hours?) do I have after my usual time before I should use a backup? Am I okay taking the pill within the hour? I can't seem to find this information anywhere.
Thanks!

You should have a window if up to six hours on Ortho-lo! You're definitely safe within one hour.

Without knowing much about Lo- I would just take it between 1-2 hours FOR SURE of your typical time.

Just to be safe...I wouldn't dork around with it much.

I was on Ortho-lo for three years and sometimes took it several hours late. Then again, the OP's sister missed one by just an hour and got pregnant. I once called the gyno's office; they say several hours is ok.
