Does anyone have tightness in throat and makes you want to gag. I've been like this for 2 wks. sometimes i have trouble swallowing my food. and it freaks me out. the doctors tell me it's caused by stress. Is there anyone out there with the same symptoms Sad

Double check with another doctor. Stress can often be doctor code for "I don't know what's wrong."

Have you been tested for other things, like throat infections? Is it after you eat anything in particular? (if so, it could be an allergic reaction) Is it mainly in times of stress? Or can it happen at any time? Do you have any other symptoms? How long has it been going on?

Sometimes it's after I eat or just waking up in the morning I feel the tightness. I really want to believe that nothings wrong but when you get these wierd feelings ,you just can't help but feel helpless.

It's all stress and anxiety related. Lots of people on these forums have it. It's called Globus Hystericus and it feels like someone has their hands around your throat and is pressing on your adam's apple. It can come and go, stay for years, or just a while. Either way it's a royal pain in the butt, but there isn't much you can do about it except try not to stress, take slow deep breaths, exhaling out your mouth, (like you are whistling) and if necessary, you can get muscle relaxants from the doctor.
