Deckard29... I was experiencing the same thing after an injury at work, I past it of for awhile, but then pursued chiro, physical therapy, injections, MRI' etc., etc., etc. you can go on doing this stuff forever and get temporary results. I am in my lower 40's and very healthy, after 65 total weeks of PT, multiple, doctors, chiros, PTs, all telling me they could make me better I deciced to go see a spine surgeon, (a good one mind you, I traveled 4 hours from my home town) and bam, with an my past MRI's, Xrays, etc, and an MRI he did it took him 5 minutes to diagnose me with a severly damaged disc at L4-L5, I had hime do surgery and now that pain is gone. I still have a dull ache, but the pain that was preventing me from living my life is now gone. I had a disconectomy, laminectory, and spinal fusion at L4-L5 in Dec. 08 and I am now going back to work after being on restricted duty for over 3 years... I did feel the way you explained above.
