Q: Tick bite causing itching

I was bitten by a lone star tick about 4 or 5 months ago and it has not stopped itching. It is not a constant itch, but seams to start itching towards evening hours. I have tried putting benadryl cream on it and cleaning it with peroxide and alcohol, but nothing works.

I went to a doctor a few weeks after being bitten and he said that it looked ok, but to come back if I developed a rash or a large red ring around it. I have not noticed a rash or a large ring around it, but it does get a little raised if I itch it and gets a very small pinkish ring around it.

Should I be concerned about it, and is there anything I can do to stop the itch?

Thanks for your help!

Sarah

I would go back to the doctor and let him know that even though you don't have a rash, it still itches. Maybe something else is going on with the bite or the doctor can give you something stronger for the itching.
