I have been having stroke-like symptoms off and on for a couple of months, had a number of tests (CT and others which all turned out normal). Most recently I had an MRI but upon receiving those results, my doctor is referring me to a neurosurgeon. It's been a few days and I still haven't heard from them, so I'm still in the dark as to my MRI results. All the doctor's office (nurse?) said was that it was hard to tell from the MRI results what was going on. That's pretty vague... I've been diagnosed with recurrent TIAs, but wouldn't they just flat out tell me the MRI showed I'd had TIAs or strokes? I don't really know how much the MRI might show but I would think it can detect strokes. Anyway, I was alarmed about the "surgeon" aspect, but she said it didn't mean anyone thought I needed surgery but that the neurosurgeons are specialized and can help me better than a neurologist, that I've already been referred to, and if they sent me to a neurologist, he/she would just send me to a neurosurgeon! But in Googling neurosurgeon, I find that they do surgery, that's what they do! Anyway, I'm sitting in limbo here, and worrying, so if anyone has any thoughts or understanding on this situation, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
