I am a 28 year old male, many symptoms and many tests. Sorry for the long post in advance, but I thought if I laid it out, somebody might be able to help me figure this out. Can you please tell me if you think I have a problem with my thyroid, pituitary or anything? I was taking some anti-anxiety and anti-depressants during these periods, but nothing worked. I feel like I'm the first male to go through menopause. Thanks! Here are my results over the years;

I have been recently being treated with Cytomel and Hydrocortisone, but I don't notice any difference at all. I really believe, if anything, that I am somewhat hyperthyroid. I am shaky most part of everyday, my body feels like I have internal shakiness, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, constant diarhea, cannot tolerate the heat yet I shake like a bobblehead doll in the cold, night sweats, insomnia, can't get up in the mornings, but I'm not tired during the day, headaches, nervousness. The worst problem I have is that my right eye actually feels much smaller than my left. People actually notice this from time to time. My eyelids feel as thought they weigh a ton, but my right eye feels the heaviest. When I wake up in the morning, I'm really shaky. When I try and take a nap, I shake like I'm having a seizure, my heart beats so hard it shakes my left arm and I just feel out of it. I almost always feel slow, dumb and off balance. I have been told it seems like I have a pituitary problem, but nobody has ever offered or done a scan of my pituitary, thymus or anything. I feel like I constantly have like post nasal drip or changing of my voice, clogged ears and some serious pain behind my eyes. I usually eat like crazy and people have said there surprised I don't weigh 300 pounds, yet I can eat everything and still lose 5 pounds. I wake up everynight around 2:00 in the morning and I'm hungry. I have seen 11 doctors, optometrist, opthamologist, neurologist, ENT, sleep apnea test, CT scan of head, MRI of head...but found nothing. I have been told it could be Myasthavis Gravis (SP), post concussion syndrome, hypothyroid, pituitary problem, etc...

I woke up almost 5 years ago and complained my eyes felt funny, my left ear hurt and I was really dizzy. Things have dramatically went downhill from there. I understand I could have a little anxiety and depression, but I know I would not if I didn't feel like this. I used to be so athletic and last summer after playing a softball game, I was shaking so badly I could barely walk. I have ED, shakiness of my arms when trying to hold myself up, shakiness of my legs on and off throughout the day. When I go into a store, driving or anything, my eyes feel like they do not track together. My night vision has dramatically went downhill as well. I am almost unable to maintain eye contact, as my eyes feel so off.

OMG
I have hypothyroidism, taking 100mcgs every day of levothyroxine, and after 2 years I still have those same symptoms. Very trembly inside, there are times when it feels like a seizure, very, very fatigued and weak, heart palpitations, shortness of breath,cant take the heat- I feel a burning sensation around my neck and shoulder area and feel like I'm suffocating If I'm slightly overheated, so I don't go outside. But with the air on I have to wear a regular shirt and a sweatshirt and today 2 pairs of socks. I do have bouts of insomnia, staying up for almost 2 whole days without feeling really tired. When I do get sleep I feel like I never even went to bed. In fact, I feel better after being up for 2 days than if I've gotten 8 hours of sleep. I'm very off balance, in fact it was all of these problems that lead me to the emergency room where I found out I have a thyroid problem but they have had no clue as to why I still feel the way I do. I am mentally and physically worthless most of the time. The worst part of it all is that I can get no help, no answers, and nobody even seems to believe I have any thing wrong at all. I don't know how long I can deal with this. And how do we know we aren't dying when it sure isn't living!

It's me again...
I also have the bad hunger pangs. And I don't drink caffiene so I know thats not causing the shakiness. Do you have really bad constipation? I also feel as if I have drainage in my throat and am hoarse. I don't remember having pain in my ears but I get pressure in themand my right eye has felt strange for years, like it protrudes more than the left or like theres pressure behind it. I get head, neck and shoulder aches and pains that tend to come with or from clenching my teeth, possibly from the shaking, I really wish I knew. I don't have and can't get insurance because I can't work in this condition, therefore I can't go anywhere but the emergency room, and they don't do or know anything! My abdomen swells all the time too.

Yes, it is very frustrating, I have a lot of the same symptoms, swollen thyroid, and a nodule of the right side of my throid. The TSH level always comes back normal, but I have most symptoms of hypothryroidism. I am so fatigued, weak, insominia, palpitations, slowed reflexes, etc. I have always been active until a back surgery 3 years ago. I have been sick ever since. The back surgery was a success, but something is going on with my body and nobody seems to be able to find what the problem is. I have been to MD's, internests, endocrinologists, physhiatrist, nurse practioners, etc. and every blood test seems to turn out different. I have been diagnosed with hypoglycemia, B-12 deficiency, thyroid nodle, high blood sugar, elevated liver enzymes, etc. The next blood test will show something different. I understand your frustrations - good luck! I know I didn't help you out with you question, I just understand your frustrations!

When I went to the website, it said it could not be found! This is the EXACT same post I received on my post as well about hypothyroidism.

Blue, have they done an MRI of your spine? If they found nothing abnormal with the brain MRI, I would wonder if there is a spinal lesion, with your symptoms.

hyperthyroidism
Blue, you sound like you really might have hyperthyroidism. You have a lot of the symptoms, and you don't really fit the description for hypo. You can have your TSH,T3,and T4s checked and things can still not show up. So just keep hanging in there.

hyperthroid
Blue727, I've had thyroid disease for a long time, and I have many family members with it. With your TSH readings, it's hard for me to believe you are on Cytomel. My sister had a TSH of 135 (it's not a typo. The lab wouldn't believe it either, so they ran the test 3 times)She was put on Cytomel because her thyroid was so low, and she still got hyperthyroid symptoms with the Cytomel. Go to your doc and ask to be put on Armour, and then even lower that if you need to.
Also, it looks like your adrenals are fatigued, but it would be better to go on something that rebuilds them rather than just taking Hydrocortisone. Find a good N.D. and see if they can't get you on a good adrenal rebuilding program
Good Luck, I hope it helps
