I'm not sure if the two are at all alike but I know Diabetes runs in my family including my mother and so does thyroid problems.
I had a goiter growing on the left side of my thyroid about 4 years ago and ended up having surgery to remove that side of my thyroid. I do not take any medication because they said the right side made enough hormones for my body. I occassionally had days where I was shaky, had hot flashes, got dizzy, get headaches because of extreme hunger, etc.
I ended up getting VERY sick in May of this year where I had a severe fever up to 104 for over a week, felt very nauseus, had a lump hot to the touch on the backside of my neck, had shooting pains in my neck and head, had major nosebleeds a couple times a day for 3 days straight (nosebleeds are reguar for me but not to that extreme), couldn't get myself up in the morning and was constantly falling asleep at home throughout the day yet had major insomnia at night for weeks at a time. I ended up finally finding out I had mono but I also had a goiter growing on the right side of my thyroid.
I got over the mono eventually but now this month I have gone back to being extremely tired all the time, have no motivation to do anything on my days off but lay around and take naps, I had a very sore neck for over a week, had a sore throat for almost 2 weeks and it feels like there is something in the back of my neck, which is also making me taste something gross when I swallow. I have almost constant dripping in the back of my throat and my ears.
I have also been having issues with being constantly hungry to the point of having SHARP stomach pains and feeling like I HAVE to eat right then or I might be sick. This has been ongoing for a month now on an almost everyday basis. I eat a full meal and after an hour or two I am feeling hungry again. I wake up in the middle of the night (2-5am) with extreme hunger and sharp pains and have to get up and eat something, and I stil feel hungry after I eat!!
Not sure if anyone can make sense of any of this but I am on my last nerve trying to figure it out.
