Q: throat pain?

I am a 30 year old female with continuous pain in the throat- I would say it feels like it emanates from the voicebox, almost like a dull tootache feeling- it has been going on about 3 days now. I once had this problem over 10 years ago- had every test in the book and all came back negative. I finally accepted that it might be psychosomatic in origin and tried to put my mind elsewhere, start exercising vigorously, etc. In time, it went away and has never been back until now. I am guessing that it is some sort of stress response as I am 7 months pregnant and have had scare after scare (pregnancy complication) this past month and a half leaving me extremely stressed out. I just don't know what to do about this pain now. Should I mention it to my ob/gyn or just try to tough it out and/or seek out nontraditional things like acupuncture? Should I have tests done to rule out any medical cause? Has anyone every heard of similar pain?

I'd suggest that you see an ENT specialist rather than your OB-GYN. Acupuncture can work for cases of anxiety as long as your trust the practitioner who you are working with...but rule of possible organic or mechanic problems first. You'll feel more confident having a diagnosis.
