hi yesterday out of the blue i started to spit out blood from my throat. it was quite a bit of blood and it felt like it was running down my throat. it lasted for about 30 to 45 minutes then eventually stopped. I looked in the back of my throat and saw my right tonsil was a little swollen. So i waited it out to see what happened , then about 5 hours later the bleeding came back. again for about 30 minutes and stopped. Is there anything i can do for this, how long should i wait to go see a doctor? I dont have any pain or discomfort until the bleeding starts.

i would see a doctor immediatley. this sounds to me like you may have some rupture esophogeal varacies (varicose veins of the esophagus) this usually manifests in heavy drinkers and can be a huge problem, especially if the bleeding continues. this can be a life-threatening condition if left untreated.

It allways freaks me out when people take this stuff casually. You're spitting up blood. That stuff is supposed to be on the inside. I go to the doctor when I see a tiny spat of blood in my mucus during a chest cold. Major arteries run paralell to your digestive and brachial tracts. If you have more than a drop of blood in your spit you need to go see the doctor, now.
