Dr, My last unprotected relation was 5 years ago. I had done some blood tests a couple of months before when I got flu. The WBC count was 10200 and lymphocyte count was 2400(24%). Last week, done the check again. The WBC was 7800 and Lymphosite was 39% - count 3045. Is it possible to increase the lymphosite if I am having hiv? Or will I have this much of lymphosite after 5 year period of hiv?

Welcome to e health forum.

The complete hemogram or the total WBC count is not the best way to check for the HIV status.

The WBC count can remain elevated, even after years of HIV infection. It is severely low only in late stages of HIV, when AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome) is developed.

Your WBC counts appear to be normal at the present.

In case you want to check your HIV Status, you should do a HIV 4TH Generation ELISA test, which will be the conclusive test with regard to HIV diagnosis.

I hope this helps.

Dr, I had donated my blood two times. I have filled my address, phone numbers in the form at that time. If I am infected, I should be notified by them? (The hospitals were RCC Trivandrum and big private hospital in Kozhikkode, Kerala)
