Q: The progesterone only pill
asked by: DoctorQuestion on February 13th, 2009
As mentioned, right now know I have ovarian cyst(s) again. Had two months ago, they went away (had two ultrasounds (during and after cyst gone); also had CA-125 test. Normal. I tend to get these but don't want to do bc pills because of my age. They recommended proterone only pills. Not sure if Ok at my age - 52.

Ovulation and Ovaries Answer A5765

Current medical status: I have been getting small fluid-filled ovarian cysts. The last one went away (had two ultrasounds) and CA-125 test normal last month - took one to be sure.

No data can be found about the bad effects of the progesterone only pill in older women. On the contrary, the progesterone only pill is particularly useful for:
-new mothers who are breastfeeding
-women with diabetes
-women who smoke
-women whose blood pressure has gone up on other birth control pills
-older women
