Hello Doctor,
I had unprotected sex with my husband last night and this is my first month on the pill, I have taken about 14 of them, always at the same time with no problems. Today, I woke up with a fever and have to start on antibiotics for a throat infection. Since the Zpack interferes on the pill, is there anything I can do to guarantee I will not get pregnant? Do I have to go get Plan B? Thank you.

I will not be seeing him for the next 2 weeks, he's out of town but I am concerned that the sperm might live inside my body from last night.

I am not a doctor, but the pill made your cervical mucus unfriendly to sperm so none should have penetrated into your uterus. The pill also suppressed the development of the ovum so you should not ovulate in time, even if some of his swimmers made it into your uterus.

You do not have to worry about any sex before you started Zpack, the pill should have protected you if you have been taking it as prescribed.

Remember that when you finish ZPact, you have to consider yourself fertile for the next 7 days and use condoms or abstain from sex.

Best of luck!
