the pill and migraines

I'm 19 and a virgin, and I need advice on contraception. I figured there's not harm in being prepared just in case!!

I was considering going on the contraceptive pill, not for contraceptive reasons originally, but because I have a bladder problem which could be hormone related. However my doctor strongly advised me against the contraceptive pill when I told her I suffer from bad migraines, because she said that it could make migraines worse, and in some cases has even been known to cause strokes in people with severe migraines.

I'm now really confused because I was speaking to my friend the other day and she said that her sister has just been put on the pill FOR her severe migraines.
Seem to be contradicting each other just a little bit!

And also leads me onto the question: what can I do contraception-wise? I have a sensitivity to latex, so if I can't use condoms and I can't use the pill what the hell CAN I use?! Also I know many guys don't like using condoms.

Man I sometimes HATE being a girl, I hate having periods, I hate having breasts, I hate the fact that if I have sex I risk getting pregnant. Men have everything so easy! Mad

I also have an LD (dyscalculia) which means I find keeping to times very difficult as I'm really bad at time management and will forget things. Does anyone know of any methods of contraception that are 100% reliable, and do not involve having to take things at specific times or days?
My mum and my friend both say I should get a second opinion regarding the pill.

Maybe I'm just being stupid. Embarassed

Or maybe I should just make it a lot easier for myself and just NOT have sex...

GET a second opinion from a Gynecologist, NOT your regular family doctor.

You can use certain BC methods if you have migraines, you just need to go to someone who specializes in womens health.

Getting a second opinion would be a good idea. However, if you have problems remembering to take something at the same time every day like you mentioned, the pill may not be the option for you. Perhaps the patch would work better. You only have to change that once a week. You could also look into the shot which is once every 3 months. If hormones end up being a no-go, it looks like condoms might have to be the way to go for you.

There are many condoms out there that are not made out of latex made specifically for those with latex allergies. If you go to google and type in latex free condoms, there will be a lot of information on it.

If you are worried about guys not wanting to use a condom, they aren't worth your time if they refuse. A guy has to respect you and your body. It is also good because they protect against STDs as well.

I'm thinking of getting a second opinion.
I had no idea latex-free condoms even existed!

Are condoms 100% reliable? Only I've heard rumours that women HAVE become pregnant even when they have used a condom. Is it possible?

It is possible, but really only if you use a condom incorrectly or if it breaks. If you read the instructions on how to put it on and make sure the condom isn't too large for the male, as well as check for tears after you are done , you are pretty safe. If the condom breaks, you can take emergency contraceptive pills. Overall, it is pretty safe to use a condom.
