wow. That actually made me sick. Those are the reasons I'm pro-choice, I can't imagine woman going through that. Imagine how many woman's lives have been saved because of Roe vs. Wade!

Pro-life will probably argue that these women shouldn't have attempted the illegal abortion in the first place and put themselves in such situations. "Just suck it up and stay pregnant."

This is one of the main reasons why I'm pro-choice. Every woman has the right to have PROPER medical treatment and not be forced to put themselves at risk to avoid an unwanted pregnancy.

Just suck and stay pregnant is like saying well you spread your legs open.........

What they forgot to say is the guys WHOS PENIS WENT IN THERE........

sorry for being blunt.

I am pro-choice because I believe that everything we do in life is a choice to be made whether good or bad but that is for us to make men or woman. I believe in Freedom and womans rights!

But you're killing a human being. I don't think it's just so simple as "I believe a woman has the choice"! I tried that for years. It rings so untrue the more and more I think about it.

How so??

I know in Canadian human rights and charter that we have freedom of choice, so although we have a choice to fight or not some people would rather not, I work with French people so I dont really know about other places.

How is it that it rings untrue, if society emplaces more value on men than woman why should it be allowed? No offense because I am to both sides for rights not just woman.

I see it this way. If a woman could have a z/e/f removed safely from her uterus and have it still survive once outside of her body, I would advocate for that. The death of the z/e/f is unfortunate, but as science stands right now, it's unavoidable.

The rights of the mother to control her own body must prevail. When science has reached the point of safely removing these unborn children without causing them harm and death, I think both sides will be satisfied.

What about, "I am not able to make this choice for someone else"?

That's what I think, at least.

It doesn't matter what YOU think. What matters is what the woman with the unwanted pregnancy is thinking. Abortions have always and will always occur when there are unwanted pregnancies. The question is, do we let women perforate their intestines and die of massive infections, letting their born child become orphans, or do we treat them in a medical setting like a civilized society?

Quote:
It is important to remember that Roe v. Wade did not mean that abortions could be performed. They have always been done, dating from ancient Greek days.

What Roe said was that ending a pregnancy could be carried out by medical personnel, in a medically accepted setting, thus conferring on women, finally, the full rights of first-class citizens — and freeing their doctors to treat them as such.

But women are meant to be breeding fodder for the potential people, so they really don't count (at least as far as pro"lifers" are concerned).

One might also hope that by the time "rehoming" the embryo is an option, birth control choices will have improved to the point where unplanned pregnancies are an exceedingly rare event.

Of course, that also takes educating people, and making those options accessible. But if science can find a way to relocate embryos, surely to god they can come up with enough highly effective birth control choices that nobody who doesn't want to be ends up pregnant in the first place.

Maybe medical science is just too busy inventing pills that give old men erections to bother with something as mundane as that, though. Laughing

This is the part I thought was the most interesting...

The point is, it's going to happen, it's always happened, and we can't stop it. We can only make it safe. That's where women's rights come into play.

I don't think most pro-lifers feel all women are "meant" to give birth. Is that what out basic function is? Yes. All living beings are made to procreate and spread, that's the basic function of life. As sentient beings, we do have the ability to make a conscious choice to not do so, but that does not change the fact that having sex is like playing with a loaded gun: the body is there, and its goal is to become pregnant.

I just don't view illegal abortion is making women second class citizens. I've never understood the connection. I've seen plenty of people preach it, so no, I don't want your sources about it. I just disagree with it.

Because it would be denying women the right to a safe alternative?

I think the idea is that a man and a woman both made the choice to have sex- and the women are put in danger because of that choice, and then denied a safe alternative.

Women women women. Abortion is not just about the woman, that's my point. Some pro-choicers want you to forget about the fetus as a human; they call it a parasite, a cancer. Ignore it, cut it out, it just looks like an alien doesn't it? It's only a centimeter long! Kill it, it's not a person, or even human. Not really. It can't think, it's not a baby, it's not really alive, it doesn't matter at all. It's attacking her, it's raping her, it's removing her rights. It's sick, disgusting, unnatural!

It's all fake. I'm sick of hearing it.

Just to reiterate.
