Hi,
i am a 19 year old male who doesn't yet
shave on a regular basis, and even though
I am an athlete find that I don't look as
athletic as other people with my same
training regimen.
After taking my blood, my doctor just gave
me a prescription for topical testosterone
gel because he found that my free
testosterone was 43 ng/dl and my total
testosterone was 343 ng/dl. Now, I have
been looking all over the internet and
have found that I am within a normal
testosterone range. However, when I
consulted my doctor he said that the mean
free testosterone is 95 ng/dl and the mean
total testosterone is ~500 ng/dl. He then
said that I am low for my age. However,
given my history as a 19 year old who only
has a thin mustache, very little signs of
male baldness pattern (my hairline still
looks like it did in my youth) and the
general consensus among my peers that I
look like a 16-17 year old boy, is it
necessary to expedite my maturation with
testosterone, or will my body eventually
come at its own pace? The allure of
taking the cream is tempting with a lean
body, better mood, clearer thinking and
more "male" look, but I am also afraid of
the possible side effects such as acne,
male pattern baldness and breast
enlargement. If the doctor gave me a 30mg
gel to put on, what kind of effects should
I expect. Thanks in advance for any kind
of consideration to my question.
