Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune condition that affects the nerves of the central nervous system, leading to destruction of myelin, which is the basic component of the outer layer of the nerves. This is further manifested with certain neural symptoms. The name refers to multiple scars in the neural tissue which might be visualized with different imaging methods.
The symptoms might include: sensation changes such as paresthesia or hypoesthesia, muscle weakness, or muscle spasms. Pain might be located, too. Depending of which nerves are affected, problems with speech, visual problems, or urination and defecation disorders might be present. Mood changes and cognitive impairment might be detected, too.
Since the previous results from the MRI indicated that there is a possibility that the detected scars are related to multiple sclerosis, you might want to visit a neurologist to check if the pain is related to multiple sclerosis, too. Please note that there are many other causes for headaches and intense facial pain and you do not have to worry about multiple sclerosis until results from an adequate examination and tests are received.
