Q: Testicular lump
asked by: DoctorQuestion on April 18th, 2009
hi im a 14 year old boy and when i was about 12 i had a small lump near the epidermis on my testicle. im not sure whether it is on it or not. prior to finding it, i was hit hard in the groin and the lump appeared about 3 days later. it was quite painful when it first came up and it was uncomfortable to walk around but if i didnt tough it for around a week it would shrink considerably in size until it's almost unnoticeable. i also have a lump on my left nipple which isnt hard and is right in the centre; this also shrinks considerably in size. i used to have a lump on my right nipple aswell but i left that for about 2 weeks without touching it and it disappeared. the lump on my testicle is soft aswell. i went to the doctor about a years after i first found the testicular lump and he said it wasnt on the testicle but im not sure if it is or not.

According to the data you provided, you might have mistaken the epididymis for testicular lump. Epididymis is a narrow tube connecting the efferent ducts from the rear of the testicle to its vas deferense. Its primary function is to storage the spermatozoids until ejaculation where they undergo part of the maturation process. Non medical person might describe it as lump on the upper pole or on the rear edge of the testicle. If this lump does not grow, then it is the epididymis. Otherwise, examination to search for more serious conditions is recommended.
The lump after the accident might have been inflammation of some of the structures in the scrotum. The inflammation is accompanied with swelling of the affected organ (lump) and increased sensitivity (pain).
