8 years ago when I was 20 I was very sick and diagnosed with mono. Ever since then whenever I have been tested ( for illness ) it comes back positive for mono. ( quite a number of times ) I always thought this was normal - once you have mono you always have mono - now I am finding out that this isn't true so why am I still testing positive? Now I actually feel like I did when I had mono - and still testing positive could I have mono (again/still?)

IT sounds as if you were originally infected with the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV).

Is that correct?

Once you're infected with EBV, you carry the virus — usually in a dormant state — for the rest of your life. Periodically, however, the virus may reactivate. When this happens, the virus can be detected in your saliva — but you're not likely to become ill. Rarely, reactivated EBV may cause illness in people who have weak immune systems. (From the Mayo Clinic)
