My friend had sex with street sex worker with condom in 1998. None after that. He developed all symptoms of hiv. 1 year back he lost 8 to kgs weight in 3 weeks. Face and feet wasting also. Node in the neck for the last one year. Sudden change in eye sight specs. Continuous white ulcers on both sides of tongue, painful. All these years tested negetive evry six months. Recent ELISA test before 3 months negetive. IV generation Duo Test during every six month test shows index value ranging fro .04 to 0.9 Is he close to test positive ?

I don't know why he is testing negative unless he has some other immune deficiency disease or something..sorry but if he has got tested several times for HIV and it comes back negative then he must have some other kind of immune problem I would think.

Delayed Seroconversion
As described before for my friend, had exposure before 10 years. Till now every six months negetive test. but Weight loss of abt 8 kgsin 3 weeks, Face Wasting,White ulcers on Tongue etc. You said some other IMMUNE DEFICIENCY. What Kind of Deficiency it can be. IS he 1oo % safe from hiv after all these years. What is significance of index value .04 to .9 He is worried coz index value 1 means positive for hiv and he is close to that. If any normal safe oerson without any exposure will test for hiv by 4th gen duo test, will the result index value be zero

hiv test IV generation duo test
In hiv test by IV generation Duo test, the test result is shown as negetive if index value is less than 1 and positive if it is 1 or more than 1. Also it keeps on variying in every test taken at 6 months. Varying from 0.03 to 0.9 But agian in next test it came down to 0.2 Now is 0.9 close to positive?. Can it turn to positive in future? Is index value like 0.1 mean that slight hiv infection is present? If you take above test on normal healthy person without any undue exposure, will the index value show Zero.

HIV Fear
In my earlier question you have answered
"I don't know why he is testing negative unless he has some other immune deficiency disease
or something..sorry but if he has got tested several times for HIV and it comes back negative then he must have some other kind of immune problem I would think."
I have been taking Anti depression medicines very often for about 8 years. Could it get false negetive? Or with all these negetive tests am I 100 % safe from hiv? What kind of Immune Problem can I be having. I have white sores and warts on both sides of tongue for last 40days and no medicine works. I am terrribly depressed, please advise.

I am going to move this to Immune Disorders. You have tested several times for HIV and it came back negative for the virus so that isn't it.Therefor it must be something else so I am moving this topic to Immune Disorders.Maybe you can get some answers there as there doesn't seem to be anything in the HIV forum I can do for you.Good Luck.

All these years tested negetive evry six months both with ELISA and 4th Gen Duo tests. Also tested Western Blot after 4 years of exposure--negetive result. Recent ELISA test before 3 months negetive. IV generation Duo Test during every six month test shows index value ranging from .04 to 0.9 As per test specification if index value is less than 1 it is negetive. If it is more than 1 it is positive. As his result is 0.9 Is he close to test positive ?
