Has anyone heard of "Tension Myositis Syndrome"?
I believe I may have it, since I have been having very weird back pain lately.

I also have scoliosis and had surgery 2 years ago.

Should I see my doctor, or wait for my anxiety to subside so I can determine what may be causing this pain?

Rockon0159,

Tension myositis syndrome is an interesting concept that may apply to some people, but attempting to diagnose yourself with this or any other disease is not a good idea.

If you already have spine issues and have had surgery 2 years ago, I would venture to guess that you do not suffer from TMS, but rather are more at risk for further spine issues to develop.
That risk doesn't mean you will develop more spine problems, but only that you have a higher chance than the average person.

As for waiting for your anxiety to subside, I highly doubt it will if you are already worried about having this syndrome.

Better to be checked out by a spine surgeon now and rule out any further spine problems now.

Besides, the only way to diagnose TMS, is to do all kinds of tests on you to rule out a medical problem. If none can be found, then there is the possibility that you may have TMS.

I say go to your doctor now and find out what is going on.
