Q: Tension headaches and temple pains

i have been having moderate pains in my left temple i went to the ER and they said it was just stress and anxiety. they did no MRI or cat scan just a physical exam. my question is this normally part of high stress and depression or can i take the word of this ER Dr. i have no insurance or family doctor

Given the data you provided, it seems likely that you might be experiencing a tension headache due to stress, depression, and anxiety disorder, considering the fact that you were physically examined by a doctor (neurological status-status neurologicus should have also been performed during this examination) and pathological neurological signs were not discovered, so that might be the explanation why a CT scan or MRI were not suggested. (CT/MRI are done when there is a pathological neurological finding during a physical examination). These moderate left temple pains might also occur due to medical problems in the eye, so follow up with an ophthalmologist (an eye doctor) or optometrist might be advisable, for your vision check up and to assess the possible need for glasses. If temple pains become severe, it is absolutely necessary that you visit an ER neurologist as soon as possible.
