Hello all,
hope everybody if well,
I have a strong tension with little pain down along my left feet especially early every morning I still also feel pain after a couple of hours of sitting and when standing up its hard to straighten up before few seconds. I had L4 and L5 severe pain like 6 month ago and still recovering slowly until now. I practice some little walking and floor exercises every couple of days and stooped all medications long time ago. I think I should recover faster and this tension is really annoying. I would appreciate some ideas on thing to do and get better faster.

Thanks

Robert

Hello Robert,

Patience with onesself is most difficult I know. However, it just takes time for the body to heal.

I commend you for not taking pain medications.

Robert, what disturbs me is that in your post there is not indication that you have had x-rays or MRIs. I hope your doctors have requested these for you so that they can better analyze your problem.

Also, I would highly recommend that you seek the advice from at least two spinal surgeons.

Let us know how things go for you.

Hello again,
just to share with you guys
when i went 2 month ago to my doctor i had terrible pain down along my left leg and could hardly stand up and thought i would need a surgery but
he gave me Predicore 60 mg per day and Zaldiare to kill the pain when necessary instead of Neurontine which was useless. so after two weeks i started to feel better and did not have to take anymore pain killer
now I take 10 mg of predicore for another 10 days and hopefully will stop after that and start wil light sport.
cheers

Hi Robert,

Did you mean that your doctor gave you prednisone 60mg? I can't find anything out about anything called predicore when I google that name.

Zaldiare is a good pain relief medication.

Not everyone gets relief of nerve pain with neurontin.

Have you been taking prednisone for the nerve pain for the past 2 months? That's an extremely long time to be taking high doses of prednisone. It is usually given in a medrol pack of prednisone which is a decreasing dose over a 7 day period.
I've never heard of giving prednisone for the length of time you indicate you are taking it for nerve pain.

It also sounds like you have nerve compression in your L4/L5 vertebrae area, but you have not said anything about the specifics of your MRI and what the doctor told you.

It sounds like you should get another opinion from a well qualified spinal surgeon as the treatment you are getting really doesn't sound up to par.

It also sounds like you are in dire need of a good physical therapy program to strengthen your core muscles, learn proper exercises to do to keep them strong and how to do them properly.

You should never just start doing exercises on your own because if you do the wrong ones, or do them incorrectly, you will cause serious injury to your spine.

Hello Fran
thanks for the info
I know it is a long period taking predicor (Predicor Prednisone USP 10mg)
and I have gained some weight but I had no option when I was in pain. I had L4 /L5 sciatic disc with sever back pain ten month ago, later on
the pain was gone but tension started in my left leg like 3 months ago
this is only part of the treatment in ten days i will stop medication completely and start some excursive as the doctor said
I know many people recovered pretty well after therapy but my doctor does no recommend in my case I don’t know why I will visit another surgeon and see...
..best

Hey all,
unfortunatley nothing worked for me and i went in for surgery on 30 sep and the next day i walked out with no problems thanks god. After 4 days i am able to drive and now i could go to work again if i want but i prefer to rest for another 10 days

I suffered before the surgery from sever pain and numing all day and night along my left leg the mri showed a 1 cm piece in L5 which was sqeezing the nerve real hard and it was taken out with some other small bits and pieces
Now i feel much better and no more pain
cheers
