Hello i am an 18 year old guy who recently ( about 3 weeks ago ) started heaving problems. It happened one day when i was hanging with friends and suddenly i got this pressure tense feeling in my head ( forehead and back of the head it varies from time to time ) at night i had a feeling that my vision was hurting and like going around although i wasnt moving my head and when i got up i had this total vertigo and black flash in the eyes for like a second . After this i constantly feel tired and have this heavy feeling in eyes and tense feeling in head and neck as if i didnt sleep for a year and as well i feel nervous all the time. Sometimes i get something like a fear atack when i start thinking that i would die or that i have some horrible disease. After some time and a whole load of vitamins it kinda went away but than sprang up 3 days later. I should mention that i became very irritable and that before that my life has been always very very tense. I had university exams and i have troubles in my family everyday and sometimes i really feel miserable although i feel really ashamed of myself partly because i was a nation olimpics boxing champion but it as nothing to do with my situation because i gave up the sport 2 years ago.All in all i must say that i had a really tough life and mention that there was no day in my life from the period of being 10 years old till now that i havent spent a day without being nervous. I had all tests done like CT,Neck x-ray,skull x-ray,blood test , urine test, ears eyes and throat checked andi have been to a neurologist who says im totally fine. But i really ask you to help me and dont simply reply with a message that you feel the same way because i read like a thousand of those and yet did not see an answer. Please i am feeling really desperate for help. Oh and during sleep i started heaving nightmares.

Have you been sick recently? It could be a sinus infection. That can give you tremendous pressure in various places in your head, even your face. When you walk heavily or stomp your feet, does it feel like your teeth are being pulled? Do you have any congestion or nasal symptoms? An infection could also explain the tiredness. However, that should have been caught during the initial physical exam. If you think this is what it is, try going to an Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor (ENT).

It could also be tension headaches or migraines. You may try a neurologist that specializes in headaches. If that is what it is, there are a lot of treatments out there. It sounds like the main thing you need to do is manage stress. That's probably good advice regardless.

When you do go to the doctor, have a list of your symptoms, when they started, and how severe they are. Also have a list of questions for the doctor to answer. Don't let them dismiss you by saying that you are fine or that it's just stress (both are doctor code for "I don't know"). You are in charge of your own care. You pay them to treat you. Remember that. Don't ever be afraid to ask questions.

I really hope you find a doctor that can tell you what's wrong. I know what it's like to feel like no one can help you and that you are alone. The only thing you can do is keep searching, keep going to doctors, and keep pushing them until you get your answer. Even when they tell you what they think it is, ask questions and do research into the matter.

Did the doctor tap on your sinuses?

I don't know about the x-ray. Is it for your sinuses? If he thinks it's important, it's not that bit of a deal. Think about it: you get sometimes 6 dental x-rays at a time. He probably only wants 1 or 2. Just make sure your neck (thyroid) is covered with the lead and you'll be fine.

A CT is just a fancy x-ray, so you may not even need the other x-ray after that.

However, I never had any of these tests when I had a sinus infection, so I'm not sure if the doctor is even testing for that. He might be looking for nasal or sinus polyps or something (which are just little growths that can cause nasal and sinus problems). Every time I've had a sinus infection, he tapped on my face, asked if it hurt, took a look in there, then sent me home with antibiotics.

If possible, ask the doctor what these tests are for before you take them. However, most of the time, the test isn't even in his office, so ask him at your next appointment. Also, since you've had so many tests, definitely ask for the reason behind any future tests, especially if they seem redundant.

Good luck.
