Exactly how does one handle deciding whether to tell friends that you are bipolar? As a newly diagnosed BP II, I feel like it would be relieving to explain some of my ultra-confusing behavior to a few friends, i.e., why I don't return calls or go into total isolation mode after I am totally engaging with them.

How have you told people? As in, exactly what did you say or how did you say it? Especially to someone who doesn't know that you were in therapy to begin with.

How do you determine who to tell?

Are you glad you told people or do you wish you hadn't?

What in the world do I do if I meet a man who I want to start dating? Shocked

You should feel like explaining only for the closest people you have, including the potential boyfriend you'll meet.
Being honest, explaining the symptoms of the disease as a result of brain neurotransmitters dis balance that you'll try to fix it with meds, is the best way to do that.
If they care about you they'll try to learn as much as possible for the disease and they'll be the most supportive through your therapy.

You never lose anything when telling the truth.
