Q: Teeth protruding after ortho treatment ?

I had a slight overbite and severe rotation of canians. I am wearing braces for the last seven months. Although they have almost corrected my bite and helped in rotation of my teeth. But my dentist says that my teeth will be still a little protruded (not overbite) after completing the treatment because this protrusion is due to the skeletal structure of my face. An alternative for this would be the extraction of teeth which will make my face a bowl (therefore, weird) and the process more complicated.
Now, my face looks normal when mouth is closed but teeth are a bit protruded when i smile.
Is my dentist correct?
Thank you very much for your time
